Quiet Please!
by Jen Nigro, Coordinator of Volunteers We’ve all been there—we’re in the middle of a difficult newspaper article, or an intense book chapter—and laughter erupts from the hallway. We’re all guilty from time to time (me included!) of getting a little carried away in our conversations, and that can disrupt our fellow readers. So, I wanted you all to know we’re making a concerted effort to make the upstairs volunteer area a QUIET ZONE. This zone will begin at the ramp that leads into the volunteer area. Susan and I want to visit with you—but let’s all try hard to keep our voices soft and keep our conversations out of the hallways. You’re always welcome to come into my office and take a seat to chat, or carry on a quiet conversation outside Susan’s. But please remember, voices carry—and we want everyone to be able to put their best work forward for our listeners! |

CondolencesMichael Combest, husband of Audio-Reader volunteer Hannes Combest, died on January 16. We offer our most sincere condolences to Hannes and the rest of the family, and we hope they will find comfort in their memories of Michael and from friends and family as they support each other through this difficult time. Volunteer DeployedAudio-Reader volunteer Emily Alley is being deployed for the next four months to help in the aftermath of Haiti’s catastrophic earthquake.
