Every Year has its Snow Heroes!
by Lori Kesinger, Program Manager Every year, winter presents special challenges for all of us; snow, ice and/or bitterly cold temperatures! One "highlight" of 2009 was the Christmas blizzard. And we were again thankful to have some snow heroes emerge to meet the challenges (including no newspaper delivery due to the blizzard; papers had to be downloaded from the internet and printed.) A BIG Thank You to John Nixon, Harlan Roedel, Bob Gent, Mary Howe, Aspen Junge, Michele Dillon, Kelly Gibson and Pete Henry for digging through the snow and taking on extra assignments to keep Audio-Reader and Telephone Reader running smoothly during the Christmas Day Blizzard. We are very grateful to you for your help! |

CondolencesMichael Combest, husband of Audio-Reader volunteer Hannes Combest, died on January 16. We offer our most sincere condolences to Hannes and the rest of the family, and we hope they will find comfort in their memories of Michael and from friends and family as they support each other through this difficult time. Volunteer DeployedAudio-Reader volunteer Emily Alley is being deployed for the next four months to help in the aftermath of Haiti’s catastrophic earthquake.
