Job Title:

Garden Administrator of the Audio-Reader Sensory Garden (volunteer position).

Job Description:

This person would be responsible for overseeing the general maintenance and upkeep of the Sensory Garden, Audio-Reader’s outdoor sanctuary for the senses. This person should have a strong gardening background and considerable knowledge of plants, flowers and herbs.

The purpose of this position is to oversee the maintenance of our beautiful public garden and help provide the proper care for existing plants. This person will help recruit new volunteers and manage existing garden volunteers and to maintain the space. The Garden Administrator will help oversee all work in the garden; coordinating the schedules for volunteers and the tasks to be done.

Ideally, the Garden Administrator will research other sensory gardens to evaluate different approaches, give tours when possible, as well as train others to give tours. The Garden Administrator needs to be available to come to the garden regularly during growing season to stay on top of areas of concern. Ideally, routine garden tasks are split up and assigned out, allowing the Garden Administrator to oversee and help when and where needed. This position is very important to Audio-Reader and critical to the continued success of the Sensory Garden.

This person will communicate regularly with Audio-Reader staff, providing general updates, concerns and recommendations for the garden.

Purpose of the Audio-Reader Sensory Garden:
